What is ResurFACE®, laser treatment?

ResurFACE® is the latest laser treatment designed to improve lines and wrinkles while treating other dermatological conditions.

The fractional laser creates tiny micro-spots in the epidermis or top layers, stimulating dramatic skin renewal. It promotes the production of collagen fibres to dramatically reduce even static lines and wrinkles, deep acne scarring, and stretch marks.

This process retextures the skin for maximum smoothness, reducing the appearance of lines and tightening pores resulting in dramatic skin renewal, effectively resurfacing your skin. Rejuvenated skin shows maximum smoothness and erasing irregularities.

Compared to traditional older resurfacing treatments, fractional laser treatment at Dr Paulina's skin clinic in Sevenoaks only treats a certain proportion of the skin for maximum results without excessive downtime or the risk of complications.

What does the ResurFACE® fractional laser treat?

Dr Paulina can treat dermatological and anti-ageing skin conditions with ResurFACE ® fractional laser at her skin clinic in Sevenoaks and offers consultations to create bespoke treatment plans to address your skin concerns.

She tailors her fractional laser treatments to your skin type for the safest treatments possible and offers a broad spectrum of skin treatments. These can include gentle treatments to specific problem areas such as Crow's feet or 11 lines but offer more aggressive full-face ResurFACE ® treatments.

Dr Paulina will discuss your desired outcomes and preferences, and she will design the treatment plan accordingly. The most common skin conditions treated are:

  • Static Lines and wrinkles
  • Skin Texture: dull and rough skin
  • Congested Skin: breakouts can appear as dullness, bumps under the surface, or small white or blackheads
  • Skin Dyschromia: skin discoloration or patches of uneven colour that can appear on the skin
  • Acne / Atrophic scars: a result of severe acne or chickenpox
  • Hypertrophic scars: a thick raised scar that's an abnormal response to wound healing

Before and After

Frequently asked questions

  • ResurFACE ® fractional laser skin treatments are highly customisable and safe when used by a highly qualified specialist doctor such as Dr Paulina; As such Dr Paulina can use them on any part of the body. The most common areas are the face and off-face areas such as the Neck, Hands and Décolleté.

  • For maximum results, Dr Paulina recommends around three skin treatment sessions, 45 minutes per treatment, but it depends on your skin concern and how gentle or aggressive your treatment is. You can repeat each session once every four to six weeks. Maintenance sessions can be every few months or annually.

  • The skin will feel mildly 'sunburnt' post-treatment and warm, and you can expect mild swelling of the treated area. You can use cold packs or wet gauze to help alleviate discomfort, but this usually resolves in a few days.

It is best to avoid cosmetics for 48 hours, after which you can apply mineral makeup. From day 2-3, the skin will appear bronzed and feel dry and flaky.

Pigmentation can initially appear darker, is temporary, and can be minimized by avoiding sun exposure and using Light Protect SPF.

  • Once the treatment area begins to renew, you'll notice a difference in your skin quality and appearance. Our skin always continues to age, but the treatment results don't wear off as such, and the effects can last for years. Dr Paulina recommends using medical-grade skincare and mineral sunscreen to slow the skin's ageing process.

  • Traditional lasers are very painful with a long downtime, there is also a high risk of side effects and you will need anaesthetic, plus there are possible infections and risks of scarring.

Fractional Ablative Resurfacing Lasers have minimal downtime due to surrounding healthy tissue, they are safer and more comfortable treatments with no need for anaesthetics
